My knees hurt somewhat yesterday, so I held off on running as planned. Instead, I took a slightly easier pace today (a full minute or so off my average last week) to compensate for the five-minutes-longer time. Not a bad pace or run this morning, helped tremendously by the fact that a) B. ran with me, and b) it was very hazy, so we didn't have hot sunlight to battle.
It took me a mile or so to get into the rhythm, but that's par for the course. A few years ago, I would be sluggish till about mile 2 or 3, and then I'd find my legs and whooosh.
Today my left knee hurt a bit, especially going downstairs, so it's probably a good thing that tomorrow's a scheduled day-off anyway. Ah yes, good times.
